Welcome - Bienvenue!
In May 1978, The Madawaska
Historical Society submitted to
the town of Madawaska the
proclamation designating June 28
as "Acadian Day" in the State of
Maine. Since that time, Madawaska
has been the site of Maine's largest
cultural Festival. Though we have
lost our lovely Acadia, we will never
forget her. We will continue to speak
her language, sing her songs, and
celebrate her traditions;for the spirit
of those first Acadians lives on in all
of us.
Each year, in conjunction with the Acadian Festival, a family reunion
is held, celebrating one of the Valley's pioneer families. This year, we are
honored to celebrate the Guerrette family.
We are excited to welcome everyone to our beautiful St. John Valley and
we hope that you will enjoy the festivities. Participation in events is
NOT limited to the hosting family. The
public is encouraged to join in any
activity that you may be interested in.
This year's family reunion honors the Guerrette family.
