The Great Acadian Bedrace
The Great Acadian Bedrace Rules and Regulations:

Bed Construction:

The frame of the bedracer does not need to be of an original bed but must look like a real bed in appearance by
having a headboard and a footboard.

The mattress and boxspring must be real standard manufactured size adult bed twin size or double. There must also
be at least one pillow and one blanket on the mattress.

Beds are to have four (4) wheels or more so as to be stable and safe. Wheels of any size may be used, they may
swivel or be in a fixed position.

The bed may not have any other means of propulsion other than human runners.

If the bed has a push bar, it cannot exceed the width of the bed.

Entrants are encouraged to decorate the bed with silly, outlandish, sponsored or socially relevant themes.

Any violation of bed construction will eliminate the bed from competition.










Rules:
1. Beds must not cross the center line at any time.
2. Each bed must have the following:
A. Two (2) pullers (steerers) located at the front sides of the bed and two (2) pushers on the back of the bed. No    
one is allowed in front of the bed.
B. One (1) person in the bed (the sleeper) must be dressed in pajamas (please wear regular clothes underneath).
C. The sleeper must be in the bed at all times when the bed is moving. Bed must be completely stopped when the
sleeper gets on or off. Judges will eliminate teams in violation. Judges decision is final.
D. All members have to be in contact with the bed at all times except to switch pajamas.

3. The winner will be determined by process of elimination. Two(2) beds will race at a time. Winners of each race will
then race against each other to determine the final winner.


4. The course will be as follows:
A.  From the starting line beds will go straight down Main Street to the indicated halfway mark where the sleeper
will switch places with a team pusher or puller.
B. The old sleeper will remove the pajamas completely and the new sleeper will completely and correctly put the    
pajamas on  before he/she gets into the bed.
C. The bed must remain completely stopped until the new sleeper is safely on the bed.
D. Once the new sleeper is on, the bed must go back without
turning the bed around and race to the finish line.
